What Does Tanglaw Mean?

Tanglaw means light — and light, in the Filipino home, has always been more than illumination. It marks the table where the family gathers, the window left glowing for someone still on their way home. This collection takes that idea and gives it a body: five lamps, each crowned by a woven salakot and lit by a soft orb beneath the brim, each one wearing a different chapter of Filipino identity. They are the same in silhouette and different in story — a family, standing together.

Who is the Barong?

Under Spanish rule, the barong Tagalog was worn sheer and untucked, a garment meant to set colonial subjects apart from their rulers. Filipinos took that mark of difference and turned it into a mark of honor — today it is the shirt worn to weddings, to inaugurations, to every occasion that asks for dignity. The Barong lamp carries that history in the fine embroidery of its front placket and floral panels: pride worn openly, with nothing to hide.
